Experience the rustic walls of Schalk Mill and learn during a personally guided enjoyment tour how we strive every day to produce sustainably and fairly, guaranteeing the highest quality and revitalizing the region.
We start the enjoyment tour in the rustic walls of the Oil Pressing Museum. Here, visitors can experience up close how the famous Styrian Pumpkin Seed Oil g.g.A. has been produced since time immemorial. Schalk Mill is one of the few companies that still use the traditional roasting method over wood fires. This manufacturing method is rarely seen anymore, making it an absolute highlight!
Additional stops on our enjoyment tour include the rustic grain mill, the lovingly restored and walkable hydropower plant museum, and our modern hydroelectric power plant with fish passage.
The tour is rounded off with a comprehensive tasting of our approximately 30 high-quality organic products. You’ll quickly notice that you can simply taste our love for organic food! Our farm shop team is happy to advise you.

In Search of the Mill Spirit
Child-Friendly Tour of Schalk Mill
The entire tour of Schalk Mill is also available in a child-friendly version. Perfect for children’s groups and school trips! At 5 stations, the kids embark on a quest to find the Mill Spirit and can experience up close how flour is produced, water turns into electricity, fish pass by the hydropower plant, and oil is made from pumpkin seeds. Only those who answer all questions correctly can unlock the Castle of the Mill Spirit!
The Mill Rally can be booked for groups of 10 children or more and is available all year round.

The tour begins in the rustic Grain Mill, a 6-story wooden structure filled with the scent of fresh bread. Here, children can witness how flour is produced from local grains and experience each step. At the end of this station, there’s the first game: “From Grain to Flour.” Here, children learn about different grain varieties and the steps involved from cultivation to finished bread.

The highlight is the visit to the Oil Press, where children can experience live one of the oldest methods for producing Styrian Pumpkin Seed Oil g.g.A. They get to watch closely as fresh oil is pressed from small pumpkin seeds. Then it’s time for the final game: “From Seed to Oil”! Here, children can recreate the journey from cultivation to finished pumpkin seed oil using different filled jars.
The Children’s Mill Rally concludes with a tasting of products in the best organic quality, made from 100% Austrian raw materials, produced sustainably and CO2-neutral – the children love it!
