Black Cumin belongs to the buttercup family and should not be confused with cumin or caraway, as they are completely different plants. Black cumin is mostly sourced from Egypt, though it can also be grown in Austria. It is well-known for its wide range of health benefits and has a distinctive, intense flavor. In addition to its rich polyunsaturated fatty acids, the essential oils it contains are said to have antioxidant, disinfectant, and antifungal properties.
Austrian black cumin has a much more intense flavor compared to that grown in other regions.
