Markus Fellner, cultivates chickpeas and lentils with care and commitment. Nestled in the famous Marchfeld—often called the “breadbasket of Austria” and part of the scenic Weinviertel—Markus has embraced organic agriculture with a dedication to sustainability.
In 2016, Markus converted his farm to organic. Training courses, continuous learning, and, most importantly, conversations with other organic farmers guided him through this journey. “Preparing for this transition through education and experimenting with new ideas has taught me so much,” he shares.
Markus finds motivation in his firm belief that food produced without chemicals is better for people and the planet.
“I want to leave our children a healthy, thriving environment.”
For him, organic farming is all about understanding the intricate relationships between soil, animals, and plants to work in harmony with nature.
How does he view his collaboration with Schalk Mühle? “I appreciate the respect Rainer and his team show. This is what I envision as a true partnership between producers and processors,” Markus says.
