Since 1859, we have been processing valuable raw materials from Austria into high-quality foods with the utmost care and dedication.
For us, ORGANIC is not a label on the packaging, but a lived attitude – shaped by our responsibility towards nature, animals, people and the climate.
Out of love for nature
ORGANIC is more than simply avoiding synthetic pesticides or doing without petroleum-based artificial fertiliser that accelerates climate change. ORGANIC is a way of life in which people, connected with nature, are at the centre; where biodiversity comes before monoculture; where cooperation comes before confrontation; where proximity comes before distance; where sustainability beats short-term profit.
In an internationalised agricultural landscape, ORGANIC in our sense often falls short. We are setting an example and trying to rethink ORGANIC. That is why we know our organic farmers in person, maintain good relationships, cultivate displaced crops such as hemp, flax and camelina in Austria at fair prices, and in doing so come one step closer again to ORGANIC in its original idea.
Out of love for the environment
At Schalk Mühle, we rely on our own clean energy – and on responsibility instead of compensation. Our production is powered by the strength of sun and water, and has been for over 100 years.
Our in-house, fish-friendly hydropower plant generates up to 6,000 kWh per day and supplies not only our production, but also many households with clean, nuclear-free energy. It is complemented by our 2,000 m² photovoltaic system with around 350,000 kWh per year.
Out of love for people
For us, fair means long-term, reliable and personal cooperation with our organic farmers in Austria. We know many of our partner farms personally and maintain relationships based on trust, respect and reliability – far beyond purely business relationships.
Regular dialogue creates a shared understanding of nature, agriculture and the quality of the raw materials that shape our products. This is how partnerships grow on an equal footing and form the basis for high-quality organic foods – step by step, together.
Out of love for animals
For our ORGANIC products, we use only plant-based raw materials – 100% from Austria and completely free of animal ingredients. Animal testing is also out of the question for our products at any time.
A purely vegan range made from high-quality ORGANIC ingredients is not a specialty for us, but a matter of course – driven by respect for animals and nature.
