Plate Lentils

Plate lentils are medium-sized lentils with a diameter of 6 to 7 mm and typically have a light to medium brown color. However, the skin only turns yellowish/brownish with longer storage, as the lentils still have a green color when freshly harvested. Although the coloring depends on the storage duration, the color has no effect on cooking time or taste. This popular lentil variety has found its home in the kitchen in spreads, stews, and casseroles and is enjoying ever-growing popularity. Easy to process and with 24% protein content, they are real powerhouses and brilliant in taste.

Plate lentils have an earthy and slightly nutty flavor. They retain their shape during cooking and are nevertheless soft and creamy on the inside.
