(Linum usitatissimum)

The flax plant originally comes from Egypt, eastern Turkey, and Iran. However, it is no longer a rarity in European countries today and can therefore also be found in Austrian fields. Just look out for beautifully blue-flowering fields (flowering phase between June and August), as not many plants shine in this hue.

Would you like to see a flowering flax field? Be aware that the blossoms close in the afternoon.
